Testimonials for Michele’s Classes

I met Michele O’Shea a few years ago when I discovered O’Shea Yoga Studio. The space was absolutely beautiful and functional. Michele, her staff, and the community were very welcoming. After my first few classes with Michele, I was determined this was the practice I needed. I had taken yoga classes for years but this was my introduction to Kundalini Yoga. This became the only studio that I ever made a commitment to join.
Michele is an inspiring person, mentor, and an excellent Kundalini teacher. Her teachings truly come from the heart which makes each class amazing and genuine. I leave class feeling revitalized, held, open-minded, and with the feeling of looking within. Michele is professional in all of her teaching methods and brings a warm personal touch to each class. She leaves time after class to discuss, chat, laugh, cry and most importantly listen and hold space for her students.
I was excited when I learned the studio was offering a Kundalini teacher training course and signed up to immerse myself further into the practice. Training weekends were both exhausting, fun, heartwarming and full of many life lessons. Halfway through our course, the world was hit with a pandemic and the state of NJ required the studio to close. Michele and her team worked quickly within these new constraints. We all agreed that it was best to take to the online world for training weekends, something that I was not excited about as I am not one who loves online anything, especially yoga. I had concerns about losing the in-person connection. Michele worked diligently to make the switch over smooth, seamless, and professional. To my own amazement, after the second weekend, I enjoyed learning at home just as much as being in the studio and without all the drive time.
I was pleased when Michele announced she would start teaching her Kundalini classes live online. As always she goes above and beyond in preparing each class, making them professional, warm, and seemingly fitting for what is the current in the world. Michele offers a library of pre-recorded classes that can be conveniently taken on your own schedule, making it the house holder’s yoga that it is meant to be. As a recent breast cancer survivor, I am grateful to be able to continue practicing with Michele online. She has been there to support me and her classes leave me feeling stronger, energized, and most importantly well grounded. Reminding me that there truly is no place like home.
Thank you,
Wahe Guru

“Many who know me would be surprised to find out that I spend hours each week sitting on the floor with my eyes closed, chanting, meditating, and moving. But that is exactly what I do with Michele O’Shea of O’Shea Yoga. I discovered Kundalini Yoga by chance and fell in love with it immediately. When my first instructor moved away, I was left without a place to practice. Someone told me about O’Shea Yoga in Wyckoff, and I decided to give it a try. To say it felt like home immediately is an understatement. The studio was lovely, of course, but the instruction was amazing. Michele is a master of Kundalini, and taking a class with her is like taking a mini-vacation. When the studio closed due to Covid, I was devastated. I didn’t realize how much I had come to rely on the solace and peace that Kundalini provides. Don’t get me wrong, Kundalini yoga is very challenging. Some of the movements can bring you to the brink! But Michele’s voice is always there in the background reminding you to, “be humble in your practice.” In other words, be kind to yourself. When Michele made the decision to offer live online classes, I was so grateful. Every Saturday morning, I log in and spend almost 2 hours with Michele and the other students. The time flies, and so does any negativity built up from the week. This practice has changed me. I never thought I would not only be able to sit and meditate but actually look forward to it. The words of Kundalini yoga, the music, and the chanting have become a part of me. I highly encourage anyone to give it a try...even if you think you aren’t the “kind” of person to sit still, meditate or chant. I was once all of those but Kundalini gets inside you and opens you up to things that once held you back. Thank you, Michele!!”

“Five years ago, I made a choice that changed and enriched my life forever. I have practiced many forms of yoga over the years but had become quite inactive. The day I took my first Kundalini yoga class with Michele O’Shea I found a beautiful community of wonderful, friendly, and supportive people. If I had not met Michele and started taking her classes, I am convinced I would not feel the strength both emotionally and physically that I have today. Her encouragement allowed me to grow in ways I had never imagined. Some people are doing what they are meant to do and when you love what you do it shows. Because of Michele’s passion and dedication to share Kundalini yoga, her classes are an incredible learning experience that you can really enjoy and look forward to. You immediately feel comfortable and at ease in class with this amazing, mindful, articulate teacher. Classes are well-balanced with exercise, breathwork, meditation, and music. Michele provides great instruction for the postures and modifications which make her classes inclusive for all levels and ages.
I have gained strength, confidence, reduced stress, improved posture, and great JOY as each class has allowed me to grow little by little until it is hard to remember how inactive I used to be!
Michele, you are a gifted and inspirational teacher. I am grateful that you are so generous with your time and knowledge and thankful that you continue to bring class to us on Zoom. The Zoom classes are of such high quality and have retained everything we need to progress with a group dynamic.
Last week as I was running up a hill and climbing into a treehouse with my grandchildren, I felt so blessed that I am on this beautiful journey with the O’Shea Yoga community. A heartfelt thank you to you Michele for making all of this possible!”

I found O'Shea Yoga and the practice of Kundalini quite by accident while attending a book reading by a friend at Michelle's studio. The reading included an opportunity to participate in class, and from that first moment, I knew I found "the something" I had been searching for. That random Sunday at O'Shea Yoga occurred at a time when I had made many large changes to address my physical, mental and emotional health, but was left restless, unfulfilled, and frustrated in some aspect that I was not able to articulate. I have since come to identify that gap as spirit; as in 'mind, body, spirit'.
Kundalini is different from other types of Yoga. By incorporating meditation, mantras, breath and movement I came to realize that strength and resilience come not by birthright, but from practice. My frustration in dealing with life's challenges was not due to a weakness of body or mind, but rather a lack of connection to consciousness, and abandonment of my spiritual journey. By reconnecting with my true, inner-self, I have made peace with the past and my shortcomings, while shaping the future I want to live. I have become more joyful, grateful and present since adopting Kundalini, and with that, far more intentional and mindful with the choices I make and steps I take toward tomorrow.
I am so thankful to have met Michelle, and for the growth that I have experienced through Kundalini at O'Shea Yoga.

“I am so happy and grateful that I found O’Shea Yoga! I started taking Michele O’Shea’s classes in 2017 with absolutely no experience. She makes you feel comfortable whether you are a first-time Kundalini yoga student or an experienced student. Each class feels very comprehensive, working your mind, body, and spirit. Since Michele moved her classes online in 2020, I have been impressed by her ability to bring the same quality class experience to a virtual environment. I can now take her classes from the comfort of my home! Honestly, her online classes are excellent and better than other online classes I have tried. She always explains the benefits of each posture and Kriya and offers modifications if a particular posture is more challenging. She guides and inspires you to make sure you get the most out of your practice. If you are hesitant to take an online Kundalini yoga class, don’t be. Her classes are worth it!”

“I had been practicing and loving Vinyassa yoga for 15 years when I decided to take a Kundalini yoga class. I took my first class with Michele in her studio in February of 2019. The studio was beautiful and everyone there was so welcoming. The class was a heart-opening Kriya and the breathwork and poses were very different from what I was used to and at first, I felt skeptical this was for me as my preference was for a vigorous flow class. After the class was over and I got into my car I just sat there for a few minutes and thought WOW! What just happened in there! I felt incredibly happy and light and thought to myself I wish I could always feel how I feel right now! I’ve been taking class regularly since then and the feelings I have after class are always different. I often feel a positive shift in how I feel and a release of something I don’t need after class. I have continued to take Michele’s class virtually and although I miss the studio and seeing people, the classes have the same positive effect on me.”

“I began taking online Kundalini yoga classes with Michelle in June 2020. As a lover of Kundalini yoga, this was definitely one of the silver linings for me during this pandemic. I am so grateful that she offers classes 3x/week. Although Michele and I have never met in person I feel such positive energy from her. I love the way she demonstrates the kriyas before we start and always offers 1-2 modifications to facilitate our success. Finally, I had to have heart surgery in September. I let Michele know I would be out of commission yoga wise. She religiously reached out to me to see how I was doing and let me know she was thinking of me. This made such a difference in my recovery. I have been religiously practicing yoga since 2010. I took a 200-hour RYT teacher training. While I love all yoga, Kundalini is my personal passion. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to take classes with Michele. If it wasn’t for the Zoom option I might not have been so fortunate. Looking forward to meeting live when it’s safe to do so.”

“It is great pleasure to recommend the live online Kundalini classes with Michele O’Shea at O’Shea Yoga. Michele has been a life coach and yoga instructor for several years and she has been able to immerse me in my Kundalini yoga practice in a way that I had never experienced before. Michele’s teaching style encourages students to increase self-awareness by quieting the mind and unblocking chakras so that one’s vital energy can flow freely. Michele holds students to high standards while being compassionate, accommodating, and non-judgmental. Her classes are a beautiful combination and balance of breath work, kriyas, and meditation. I always feel renewed and at peace after her classes. Above all, Michele’s intuitive and delicate approach to teaching yoga is only enhanced by her love and belief in the goodness of her students. I am grateful to Michele for introducing me to this practice and could not recommend her more highly. Sat Nam.”

“Thanks to Michele's generosity in donating a free yoga class for a group of my friends and a year's membership for me to one of the Christian Health Care Center's fundraisers, I was able to meet her and begin my yoga journey. Ten of us were guided through an easy and fun intro to Kundalini yoga one Saturday about 18 months ago, and I got hooked. Initially, I attended sessions at Michele's pretty studio. With the pandemic, she transitioned to online sessions and I transitioned with her. I have come to prefer them. Prior to meeting Michele, I had very little experience with yoga. I have found her approach to be very flexible with various adaptations demonstrated to make some kriyas more accessible to someone who, like me, is a senior. I heed her advice to be "humble in my practice." I finish my 90-minute sessions feeling both relaxed and energized.”

“I found O'Shea Yoga in 2019. I had been battling some serious health issues, and one of my doctors recommended finding a yoga studio in order to decrease my stress and anxiety. I can undoubtedly say that the regular practice of Kundalini yoga was vital in helping me refocus my mind and energy and it played a crucial role in my mental and physical healing process. Michele O'Shea, the owner and lead instructor of the studio, puts great thought and care into each and every class, walking the participants through all the beneficial aspects of the daily kriyas. During the pandemic, Michele seamlessly transitioned the studio to a live virtual classroom without losing any of the personal touches that made the in-studio aspect so special.”
